Marykasten takes the form of a Madonna figure: outwardly an objet, it conceals a compartment for personal belongings within. A drawer is not only a vessel for possessions but also a discreet space that inevitably discloses something of its owner. This work proceeds from a wish to resist that quiet disclosure.
